In Zusammenarbeit mit der globalen Online Learning Plattform edX und der Schweizer Plattform Swiss Mooc Service baut die ZHAW einen digitalen Campus auf. Der erste MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) ist unter ZHAWx online verfügbar und startete Anfang März mit über 1600 (!) Teilnehmenden. Möchtest du erfahren, welches Potenzial der ZHAW digital campus birgt, wie professionelle MOOC und andere Kursformate entstehen und wie du und dein Departement dieses Potenzial nutzen können? Dann schau dir die Infos auf dem Teams-Kanal an und melde dich für einen von vier Roadshow-Anlässen an.

Kurse von Partneruniversitäten
Wie bereits 2020 können Personen mit einer ZHAW-Mail-Adresse Kurse aus dieser Auswahl ab sofort kostenlos durchführen und mit einem Zertifikat abschliessen. Die Kurs-Einschreibung muss bis 31.7.2021 erfolgen, die Durchführung kann auch später stattfinden. Dozierende können auch für ganze oder einen Teil ihrer Klassen Lizenzen anfordern. Interessiert? CLAIRE wird gesehen. Hier geht es zu CLAIREs aktueller Springer-Publikation über die Covid-19 Initiative mit Ansätzen, Erfahrungen und Empfehlungen. International arbeiten – das geht auch zu Hause! Susanne Grylka, stellvertretende Leiterin der Forschungsstelle Hebammenwissenschaft, realisierte ein Forschungsprojekt mit einer Kollegin von der Teheran University of Medical Sciences. Gesehen und ausgetauscht haben sie sich neben einigen Tagen in Winterthur vor allem online. Über ihre Erfahrungen aus dieser Zusammenarbeit und dem bereichernden interkulturellen Austausch erzählt die Wissenschaftlerin im Video.

Kommunikation ist ein Schlüsselfaktor für das Gelingen der digitalen Transformation von Organisationen. Doch das kommunikative Begleiten von Veränderungsprozessen stellt Verantwortliche wiederholt vor die Herausforderung, den digitalen Wandel nebst dem Alltagsgeschäft erfolgreich zu meistern. Der IAM Digital Transformation Navigator (DTN) setzt genau hier an, bietet Orientierung und liefert konkrete Lösungsansätze.

André Fringer, Dozent am ZHAW Departement Gesundheit, gibt uns einen Einblick in seinen neuen Alltag und wie die Pandemie ihn und sein Team in der digitalen Transformation weitergebracht hat.

ZHAW-Student Ivo Elmer und sein Team haben mittels einer KI ausrechnen lassen, wie viel Pandemie-Schutzmaterial ein Spital benötigt. Dass die Software so treffgenau ist, hätten die vier jedoch nicht erwartet.

Für den laufenden DFF Call können weiterhin Projekte eingegeben werden. Der zweite und nächste Vergabezeitpunkt berücksichtigt dabei alle Projekte, welche bis am 26. März um 23:59 eingereicht wurden. Die Deadline für den dritten und letzten Vergabezeitpunkt ist der 25. Juni um 23:59. Einreichen könnt ihr eure Projekte direkt über unsere Plattform, wir freuen uns!

Auch dieses Jahr ermöglichen wir herausragenden Forscherinnen und Forschern der ZHAW eine DIZH-Fellowship. Dazu haben wir das Programm noch attraktiver gestaltet. Der Call ist für Anfang April geplant.

Interessiert an den Tätigkeiten unserer Fellows? Hier zwei Beispiele: Alice Delorme Benites entwickelt ein maschinelles Übersetzungssystem für akademische Texte und Mathias Bonmarin erforscht die Auswirkungen der Digitalisierung auf die Dermatologie.

Die Swiss Conference on Data Science (SDS) ist die grösste und wichtigste Schweizer Konferenz im Bereich Data Science. Das ZHAW Datalab ist wissenschaftliche Partnerin der SDS und organisiert am Vortag der Konferenz das International Symposium on the Science of Data Science. Ziel dieses Satellitenevents ist es, gemeinsam den wissenschaftlichen Kern von Data Science zu erarbeiten.
Abstracts können bis zum 9. April 2021 eingereicht werden.

Die Stiftung TA-Swiss hat eine Studie ausgeschrieben, die sich mit den Auswirkungen der digitalen Manipulation von Ton-, Bild- und Videomaterial sowie Deepfakes beschäftigt. Die Projektskizzen sind bis spätestens am 16. April 2021 einzureichen.

the word “campus” comes from the Latin word “flat land” or “field,” but we might also think of a camping site, where we have set up our tents and sit around a bonfire. Our “digital camp” is standing on firm ground: As the first university of applied sciences worldwide, the ZHAW now offers freely accessible online courses on the online learning platform edX. The first course started on 1 March, and the international interest could not be greater.

We also give you the latest news on AI, look over the shoulders of three of our colleagues and show you exciting opportunities in continuing education and other areas where you can participate. The ZHAW digital team hopes you enjoy reading this newsletter and wishes you all the best.

The ZHAW is building up its digital campus in cooperation with the global online learning platform edX  and the Swiss platform Swiss Mooc Service. The first MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) is available online at ZHAWx and started in March with more than 1600 (!) participants. Courses by partner universities 
Starting now, people with a ZHAW email address can enrol in courses from this selection and complete the courses with a certificate free of charge. Enrolment must take place by 31 July 2021, but you can attend the course later if you wish. Lecturers can also request licences for all or part of their classes. Working internationally – that’s also possible from home! Susanne Grylka, deputy head of the Midwifery Science Research Unit, has realised a research project with a colleague at Teheran University of Medical Sciences. Apart from a few days in Winterthur, their exchange took place mostly online. In the video below, the researcher talks about her experiences of this cooperation and the rewarding intercultural exchange.

Communication is a key factor for the success of the digital transformation of organisations. However, the communicative accompaniment of change processes repeatedly confronts those responsible with the challenge of successfully mastering the digital transformation in addition to everyday business. This is where the IAM Digital Transformation Navigator (DTN) comes in, offering orientation and providing concrete approaches to solutions.

André Fringer, lecturer at the ZHAW School of Health Professions, gives us an insight into his new everyday life and how the pandemic has brought him and his team further in the digital transformation.

ZHAW student Ivo Elmer and his team let an AI calculate how much pandemic protection material is needed in a hospital. However, the four did not expect the software to be so accurate.

Projects can still be submitted for the current DFF Call. This second and upcoming award date considers all projects submitted by 26 March at 11:59 p.m. The deadline for the third and last award date is 25 June at 11:59 p.m. You can submit your projects on our platform, we look forward to your proposals!

Again this year, we award DIZH fellowships to excellent ZHAW researchers. For this purpose, we have made the programme even more attractive. The Call is planned for the beginning of April.

The Swiss Conference on Data Science (SDS) is the biggest and most important Swiss conference in the field of data science. The ZHAW Datalab is the scientific partner of the SDS and is organising the International Symposium on the Science of Data Science. The aim of this satellite event, one day prior to the SDS conference, is to work together on the scientific core of data science. Abstracts can be submitted by 9 April 2021.

The foundation TA-Swiss has tendered a study that explores the impact of digital manipulations of audio, image, and video material as well as deepfakes. Proposals can be submitted by 16 April 2021.
