Einfach mal Danke sagen!
Am 1. September hat ZHAW digital an der ATP-Vollversammlung teilgenommen. Rund 60 Mitarbeitende des Administrativen und Technischen Personals der ZHAW haben sich vernetzt und zu Best Practice Ansätzen ausgetauscht. Wir danken für die Offenheit und spannenden Gespräche und freuen uns auf eine Fortsetzung dieser Kontakte.

Hinweise:
 Am 23. November wird ZHAW digital 'mal analog' in Wädenswil vor Ort sein. Wir geben Einblick in unsere Tätigkeiten und freuen uns auf den Austausch mit allen interessierten Mitarbeitenden am Dept. N, Life Sciences und Facility Management.

Du findest, dass Nachhaltigkeit und Digitalisierung wichtige und dringende Themen sind? Das sehen wir genauso. Deshalb lancieren wir den Digital Futures Fund (DFF) Call an genau dieser Schnittstelle. Wie kann die digitale Transformation die nachhaltige Entwicklung der Gesellschaft und des Planeten antreiben? Alle ZHAW-Mitarbeitenden sind eingeladen, ihre Projektideen bis am 14.11.2022 dazu einzureichen.

Ausstellung "Digitale Räume"
Digitale Bilder prägen unseren Alltag. Betrachten wir ihren Entstehungsprozess, tauchen wir in eine eigentümliche Sphäre ein. Was ist der Unterschied zwischen einem “analog” und einem “digital” erstellten Bild? Und welche Rolle spielen Algorithmen in der wissenschaftlichen Bilderzeugung? Die Ausstellung befasst sich damit, wie digitale Bilder unsere Wahrnehmung und wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnisse beeinflussen. Eintritt frei, keine Anmeldung erforderlich.

Um 18:00 lädt Michael Mieskes, bildender Künstler und Dozent am Departement Architektur der ZHAW, mit einem Input zur Diskussion ein.

DIZH-Innovationsprogramm 2. Project Call
Der soeben lancierte Call fördert Projekte, in denen Lösungen für relevante praktische Fragen und aktuelle gesellschaftliche Herausforderungen erarbeitet werden. Dies schliesst explizit die Möglichkeit zur Bearbeitung neuartiger, risikobehafteter Fragestellungen mit ein, für welche der Weg zur Umsetzung oder der Messung des Impacts mit Unsicherheit behaftet ist. Gesucht werden Projekte, welche unterschiedliche Formen der Kooperation zwischen den beteiligten Hochschulen mit Praxispartnern in den Vordergrund stellen. Die Laufzeit soll 1-3 Jahre betragen und es können 100-300 kCHF an Mitteln beantragt werden.

High Performance Computing an der ZHAW
Immer grössere Datenmengen, komplexere Simulationen sowie die Anwendungsfindung von maschinellem Lernen fordern auch eine Zunahme der Rechenleistung, die schnell diejenige von klassischen Rechnern übersteigt. Am 3.10.22 ab 17 Uhr gibt dir das HPC-Team aus Wädenswil einen Überblick und zeigt auf, wie es HPC für die Forschung und Lehre nutzt. Tausche dich mit Anwender:innen und anderen Interessierten aus und knüpfe neue Kontakte. Die Platzzahl ist beschränkt, eine Anmeldung erforderlich und verbindlich. Dies und noch viel mehr bietet Kaltura, die neue Videoplattform der ZHAW. Sie löst die bisherigen Plattformen SWITCHcast und SWITCHtube ab und steht allen Personen mit ZHAW-Account zur Verfügung. Die Einführung erfolgt schrittweise.

Neuer ZHAW-Kurs auf edX
Der neueste MOOC-Kurs der ZHAW führt in die Angewandte Linguistik für Sprachberufe ein. Hier lernt ihr wissenschaftlich fundiertes Denken und zielführendes praktisches Handeln für einen Berufsalltag, der immer stärker mitgestaltet wird von künstlicher Intelligenz.

Ausserdem startet der Kurs Vision 2030 im September zum 2. Mal und noch bis im Dezember sind folgende Angebote online: “Sustainable Corporate Financing – Foundations”, “Sustainable Corporate Financing – Applications” und “Cell cultivation techniques: An introduction”.

Computational Life Sciences
Am Institut für Computational Life Sciences (ICLS) sind neue Studiengänge entstanden. Der Bachelor Applied Digital Life Sciences (ADLS) ist ein Vorreiter schweizweit, da er sowohl an den Schnittstellen der Digitalisierung in den Life Sciences als auch den Data Sciences verortet ist. Zu den neuesten Trends in den Bereichen Data Science, Bioinformatik, Pharmazie, Digital Health und Digital Environment findet am 27.10.22 der erste Computational Life Sciences Day statt.

On 1 September, ZHAW digital participated in the ATP General Assembly. Around 60 employees of the Administrative and Technical Staff of the ZHAW networked and exchanged best practice approaches. We would like to thank you for the openness to experience and the exciting discussions and look forward to continuing the exchange.

Exhibition “Digital Spaces”
Digital images shape our everyday lives. If we look at their creation process, we are transported to a peculiar sphere. What is the difference between analog and digital image processing? And what role do algorithms play in scientific image creation? The exhibition considers how digital images influence our perception and scientific knowledge. Free admission, no registration needed.

At 6 p.m. Michael Mieskes, visual artist and lecturer at the Department of Architecture at ZHAW, invites you to join the discussion with a short input.

DIZH Innovation Programme 2nd project call
This call, launched on 6 September, supports projects in which solutions to relevant practical questions and current societal challenges are developed. This explicitly includes the possibility of dealing with novel, risky questions for which the path to implementation or measurement of the impact can be uncertain. We are looking for projects that focus on different forms of cooperation between the participating universities and practice partners. The duration should be 1 to 3 years and CHF 100'000-300'000 of funds can be requested.

High Performance Computing at der ZHAW
Increasing amounts of data, complex simulations as well as the application of machine learning call for an increase in computing power that quickly exceeds that of classical computers. On 3.10.22 from 5 p.m. the HPC team from Wädenswil will give you an overview and show how they use HPC for research and teaching. You can exchange ideas with users and other interested people and make new contacts. Registration is mandatory and binding, as the number of places is limited. Show a screencast in Moodle with just a few clicks? Add a quiz to a video? Share your own learning video with the public? Kaltura, ZHAW's new video platform, offers this and much more. It replaces the previous SWITCHcast and SWITCHtube platforms and is available to anyone with a ZHAW account. The introduction will take place gradually.

The latest MOOC course from ZHAW introduces you to Applied Linguistics for Language Professions. Here you will learn scientifically sound thinking and goal-oriented practical action for a professional life that is increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence.

Computational Life Sciences
The Institut für Computational Life Sciences (ICLS) launched new study programmes. The new Bachelor's programme Applied Digital Life Sciences (ADLS) is leading the way, as it deals with digitalization in both the life sciences and data sciences. The first Computational Life Sciences Day focuses on new trends in the fields of data science, bioinformatics, pharma, digital health and digital environment on 27 October 2022.

Representatives from projects of the innovation competition Invite (Digital Platform for Continuing Vocational Education) and Digitization in Education (Digi-EBF) will contribute to the joint design of a current and application-oriented discourse in the field of adult and continuing education. Representatives from science, educational technology and educational practice are invited to discuss the use and user orientation of AI-supported educational platforms, application references of hybrid, individualized and adaptive learning settings in continuing education, etc.
