DIZH fördert 10 Innovationsprojekte mit vier Millionen Franken |
Innovative Lösungen für die Herausforderungen der digitalen Transformation entwickeln und umsetzen: Dieses Ziel verfolgen die zehn Projekte, die vom Innovationsprogramm der Digitalisierungsinitiative der Zürcher Hochschulen (DIZH) bewilligt wurden. Es freut uns besonders, dass 7 Projekte mit ZHAW-Beteiligung gefördert werden!
Es sind zukunftsweisende Ideen für aktuelle Herausforderungen zu Themen wie Diagnostik und Rehabilitation, Belastungsmanagement und Entscheidungsfindung sowie virtuelle Lernräume und neue Unterrichtskonzepte.

Digitale Mediennutzung von Kindern während des Lockdowns |
Für eine Studie der ZHAW-Fachgruppe Medienpsychologie untersuchten die Forschenden als Teil des internationalen Projekts «Kids' Digital lives in Covid-19 Times» die Veränderungen des Medienalltags von Kindern, Jugendlichen und deren Eltern während des Lockdowns. «Wir gehen davon aus, dass die Kinder und Jugendlichen digitale Medien vermehrt für die Aufrechterhaltung von sozialen Kontakten einsetzten, aber auch stärker als Zeitvertreib und zur Unterhaltung», sagt Lilian Suter. «Zudem wurden digitale Geräte auch vermehrt für schulische Zwecke genutzt.»

Neuer Bachelorstudiengang kombiniert Digitalisierung und Life Sciences |
Der neue Bachelorstudiengang in Applied Digital Life Sciences vereint die fortschreitende Digitalisierung in den Life-Sciences-Disziplinen mit einem hohen Praxisbezug. Im Fokus stehen die Datenakquisition, die Informations- und Bedeutungsgewinnung und die Datenverwertung. «Der Studiengang schliesst eine Lücke an der Schnittstelle von Life Sciences, Computation und Datenwissenschaften», sagt Marcel Burkhard. Das Studium startet im Herbst 2022.

KI “made in Europe”: CLAIRE eröffnet neue Büros |
Im Juni hat CLAIRE seine Reichweite in Europa mit der Eröffnung von vier neuen Büros in Zürich, Oslo, Paris und Brüssel gefeiert. Die neuen Büros ergänzen die bestehenden CLAIRE Büros in Den Haag, Prag, Rom und Saarbrücken. EU-Projekt INODE: Richtige Daten finden leicht gemacht |
Um Informationen in riesigen Datenbanken zu finden, sind in der Regel Programmierkenntnisse notwendig. Das soll sich ändern. Die ZHAW School of Engineering entwickelt im Rahmen eines EU-Projekts eine intuitive Suchfunktion. Beim INODE-Workshop Ende Mai hat Kurt Stockinger die Suchfunktion vorgestellt. Aufgezeichnete Videos vom Workshop inkl. kurzen Demos sind auf dem Youtube-Kanal Projekt INODE verfügbar.

Happy Birthday, Community! 1 Jahr Digital Futures Lab |
Mehrere Labs an der ZHAW beschäftigen sich mit der Digitalisierung, wie zum Beispiel das Digital Health Lab oder das Datalab. Dennoch ist das Digital Futures Lab (DFL) etwas ganz Besonderes: seit einem Jahr engagieren sich Digital Shapers aus allen ZHAW-Departementen im DFL und vernetzen sich hier mit allen, die die digitale Transformation an der ZHAW und darüber hinaus mitgestalten wollen. In der neuen Impact-Ausgabe erfahrt ihr mehr über das DFL und darüber, wie sich drei unserer Community-Mitglieder die digitale Zukunft vorstellen. Und wenn ihr euch auch für die digitale Transformation engagieren und ein Teil des DFL werden wollt, schaut auf der Website des DFL rein.

Gibt es eine Impfung für meine Daten? Datenschutz-Video-Wettbewerb 2021 |
Die Impfung soll uns aus den Fängen der Pandemie befreien. Gibt es auch eine, die vor Datenverlust schützt? Die Datenschutzbeauftragte des Kantons Zürich vergibt Preise für die besten Videos, die sich mit diesen Themen auseinandersetzen. Bis zum 31. August 2021 können Youtuber, Content Creator, Videomacherinnen und Videomacher ihre Werke einreichen. Der Hauptpreis ist mit 3000 Franken dotiert.

Sozialer Austausch trotz digitalem Meeting |
Veranstaltungen – online, offline und hybrid – leben vom Austausch zwischen den Teilnehmenden. Während sich für offline-Veranstaltungen im Hochschulkontext soziale Elemente etabliert haben, wie z.B. Apéros, oder Gala-Dinner, ist die Übertragung derselben in den digitalen Raum für viele EventmanagerInnen eine Herausforderung. Do it yourself: Lernvideos produzieren |
Lehrpersonen erstellen immer häufiger selbständig Lernvideos und Tutorials, um den Studierenden Arbeitsabläufe oder den praktischen Umgang mit Anlagen zu erklären. Studierende schätzen diese Videos sehr, allerdings kann deren Erstellung zeitaufwändig und anspruchsvoll sein. Deshalb hat ein Team in einem Digital Learning Projekt am Departement Life Sciences und Facility Management getestet, wie Lehrpersonen mit einfachen Mitteln effizient Lernvideos erstellen können.

Call for Proposals: Der Tod im digitalen Zeitalter

Ein digitales Erbe kann den Tod einer nahen Person noch schwerer machen. Die Möglichkeiten, die das Internet, die sozialen Netzwerke und auch die KI eröffnen, stellen die gewohnten Trauerrituale auf den Kopf. TA-SWISS schreibt eine Studie zu diesem Thema aus. In der interdisziplinären Studie sollen die Chancen und Risiken der Technologien in den Bereichen Sterbevorsorge, Verwaltung der digitalen Daten von Verstorbenen und Trauerarbeit abgeschätzt werden. |

DIZH funds 10 innovation projects with four million Swiss francs |
To develop and implement innovative solutions to the challenges of digital transformation: This is the goal of the ten projects funded by the Innovation program of the Digitalization Initiative of the Zurich Higher Education Institutions (DIZH). We are particularly pleased that 7 projects with ZHAW participation will receive funding!
These are forward-looking ideas for current challenges on topics such as diagnostics and rehabilitation, stress management and decision-making, as well as virtual learning spaces and new teaching concepts.

Children's digital media use during the lockdown |
For a study, conducted by the ZHAW Media Psychology section, the researchers, as part of the international project "Kids' Digital lives in Covid-19 Times", investigated changes in the daily media lives of children, adolescents and their parents during the lockdown. "We assume that children and adolescents used digital media more for maintaining social contacts, but also more as a pastime and for entertainment." says Lilian Suter. "In addition, digital devices were also increasingly used for school-related purposes."

New bachelor's degree programme combines digitisation and life sciences |
The new bachelor's degree programme in Applied Digital Life Sciences combines the advancing digitalisation in the life sciences with a high level of practical relevance. The focus is on data acquisition, information and meaning extraction, and data utilization. "The degree programme fills a gap at the interface of life sciences, computation and data science," says Marcel Burkhard. The progranne will start in fall 2022.

AI made in Europe: CLAIRE opens new offices |
This June CLAIRE has celebrated its reach across Europe by launching four new offices in Zurich, Oslo, Paris and Brussels. EU project INODE: Finding the right data made easy |
Finding information in huge databases usually requires programming skills. That is about to change. The ZHAW School of Engineering is developing an intuitive search function as part of an EU project. Kurt Stockinger presented the search function at the INODE workshop at the end of May. Recorded videos of the workshop including short demos are available on the Youtube channel Project INODE.

Several labs at the ZHAW are concerned with digitalisation, such as the Digital Health Lab or the Datalab. But the Digital Futures Lab (DFL) is something very special: for one year, digital shapers from all ZHAW departments have been involved in the DFL and network here with others who want to shape the digital transformation at the ZHAW and beyond. Is there a vaccination for my data? Privacy Video Contest 2021 |
Vaccination is supposed to free us from the clutches of the pandemic. Is there also one that protects against data loss? The Data Protection Officer of the Canton of Zurich is awarding prizes for the best videos dealing with these topics. Until 31 August 2021, Youtubers, content creators and video makers can submit their works. The main prize is endowed with 3000 Swiss francs.

TA-SWISS is inviting tenders for a study on this topic. The interdisciplinary study will assess the opportunities and risks of technologies in the areas of end-of-life care, management of digital data of the deceased and mourning. |
