| DIZH fördert 9 Projekte im Rapid-Action-Call |
| Mit dem Rapid-Action-Call unterstützt die DIZH Forschende der ZHAW, UZH, PHZH und ZHdK bei der Realisierung von innovativen Lösungen. Neun Projekte der vier Hochschulen werden mit insgesamt 1,2 Mio CHF gefördert. Wir freuen uns sehr, dass in fünf der neun geförderten Projekte auch die ZHAW beteiligt ist. |

| MOOC Förderung: Skills for the Virtual Age |
| Partner von edX sind eingeladen, Anträge für eine Finanzierung von bis zu 100'000 USD pro Kurs oder Programm einzureichen. Mit der zusätzlichen Finanzierung durch ZHAW digital ist dies eine einzigartige Gelegenheit, euren MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) vollständig zu finanzieren. Es werden 10 Zusagen vergeben. Das Ziel ist es, ein breites Spektrum an Disziplinen zum Thema "Essential Human Skills for the Virtual Age" zu erreichen. Wichtig: es muss klar zum Ausdruck gebracht werden, welche menschlichen Fähigkeiten gelehrt werden und warum sie in der heutigen Welt von entscheidender Bedeutung sind. | SAIROP Launch im Frühling 2022 |
Zahlreiche Organisationen schliessen sich zusammen, um an einer Schweizer Forschungsübersicht zu Künstlicher Intelligenz zu arbeiten. Die Swiss Artificial Intelligence Research Overview Platform SAIROP ist ein Meilenstein in der Schweizer Forschungslandschaft, welcher im über die Szene hinaus internationale Sichtbarkeit verspricht und internationalen Firmen und Forschungspartnern als Innovations und Vernetzungs-Hub dienen wird.
Das Schweizer CLAIRE Büro, welches unter der Patronage der ZHAW steht, ist fundamental an der Gründung und dem Aufbau von SAIROP beteiligt. |

| Forschende entwickeln das smarte Spital der Zukunft |
| Digitale Technologien wie Virtual Reality oder künstliche Intelligenz sowie die Vernetzung von Abläufen und Daten können das Spital zu einem intelligenten System machen und Qualität und Effizienz steigern. Das Winterthurer Institut für Gesundheitsökonomie erforscht, wie sich diese Transformation zum Spital der Zukunft umsetzen lässt. Das Innosuisse-Flagship-Projekt «SHIFT» läuft bis 2025. |

| Auf zum Planet Digital! |
Selbstlernende Algorithmen, seltene Erden oder segnende Roboter: In der Ausstellung Planet Digital treffen innovative Forschungsteams auf kreative Köpfe aus Gestaltung und Kunst. Vom 11. Februar bis 6. Juni machen sie Wissenschaft mit und über Digitalisierung an rund 25 Installationen mit allen Sinnen erlebbar.
Planet Digital ist ein Innovationsprojekt der DIZH. Diese Ausstellung findet in Zusammenarbeit mit der ZHdK (Zürcher Hochschule der Künste), der ZHAW und AlgorithmWatch Schweiz statt.

| In eigener Sache |
Nachdem Thilo Stadelmann im Sommer 2021 die Leitung des CAI übernommen hat, ist er von seiner Rolle als wissenschaftlicher Co-Leiter und allen weiteren Rollen bei ZHAW digital zurückgetreten. Die Hochschulleitung und das ganze Team von ZHAW digital danken Thilo ganz besonders für seinen engagierten Einsatz beim Aufbau und der Co-Leitung der strategischen Initiative.

Let’s start with the best news first: 2021 is over. In this issue of the newsletter, we look ahead to 2022. We are looking forward to events, new digitalisation projects, online courses, exhibitions, and so much more. And don’t worry if you're not quite finished with 2021. | DIZH funds 9 projects in the Rapic-Action-Call |
| With the Rapid-Action-Call, the DIZH supports researchers from ZHAW, UZH, PHZH and ZHdK in the realisation of innovative solutions. Nine projects of the four universities will be funded with a total of CHF 1.2 million. We are very pleased that the ZHAW is involved in five of the nine funded projects. |

| MOOC funding: Skills for the Virtual Age |
| edX partners are invited to submit proposals for funding of up to $100,000 USD per course or programme. With the additional funding by ZHAW digital this is a unique opportunity to get your MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) completely funded. 10 programmes will be awarded. The goal is to reach a broad range of disciplines on the topic Essential Human Skills for the Virtual Age. The guiding principle is that proposals must clearly articulate what human skills are being taught, and why they are of critical importance in today’s world. | SAIROP Launch in the spring 2022 |
Numerous organisations join forces to work on the Swiss Artificial Intelligence Research Overview Platform SAIROP. It is an important milestone for the Swiss Research Community, which will receive international visibility beyond the Swiss AI scene and can serve as a hub for international companies to support exchange and innovation.
The Swiss CLAIRE office Zurich, which is currently under the patronage of ZHAW, is a fundamental founding and development partner of SAIROP. |

| Scientists develop the Smart Hospital of the Future |
| Digital technologies such as virtual reality or artificial intelligence, and the integration of processes and data, can turn hospitals into intelligent systems while increasing quality and efficiency. The ZHAW scientists from the Winterthur Institute of Health Economics will explore the question of how hospitals can be transformed to realise the vision of “the hospital of the future.” The Innosuisse Flagship project “SHIFT” will run until 2025. |

| Visit Planet Digital! |
Self-learning algorithms, rare earths or blessing robots: in the Planet Digital exhibition, innovative research teams meet creative minds from design and art. From 11 February to 6 June, science behind digitalisation will come to life at 25 installations.
Planet Digital is an innovation project of the DIZH. This exhibition takes place in collaboration with the ZHdK (Zurich University of the Arts), the ZHAW and AlgorithmWatch Switzerland. |

After Thilo Stadelmann took over the leadership of the CAI in summer 2021, he stepped down from his role as scientific co-leader and all other roles at ZHAW digital. The ZHAW’s executive board and the ZHAW digital team would like to extend a special thank you to Thilo for his dedicated efforts in building and co-leading the strategic initiative.
Co-leadership with committee
In the future, three committees will assume the role of the scientific co-leadership. The committee members are part of the core team of ZHAW digital. |
