In diesem Newsletter kannst du Pilze, gestohlene Kunstwerke und andere nützliche Informationen sammeln. Wie Pilze spriessen gerade auch unsere Calls aus dem Boden - da ist für jeden Geschmack etwas dabei: Der Transformative Education Fund ermöglicht kollaborative Bildungsprojekte, der Digital Futures Fund for Research and Development sucht innovative Forschende, beim MOOC-Call geht es um Kurse mit globaler Reichweite und der BMFH-Call stärkt die Schnittstelle zur Berufsmaturitätsschule.

| KI ist überall an der ZHAW zu finden - in Forschung, Bildung und im Betrieb. Neue Tools gedeihen wie Pilze im Herbst. Manche sind Slop, andere giftig und einige geniessbar und nützlich. Verschaffe dir einen Überblick darüber, wie KI sinnstiftend an der ZHAW eingesetzt wird. |

| AI+X Summit |
| Zusammen mit der ETH und Universität Zürich haben wir den "AI+X Summit" auf die Beine gestellt. Ein interaktiver Stand, spannende Workshops und Diskussionen spiegelten die Vielfalt der ZHAW-Departemente wider und machten KI-Projekte und -Forschung erlebbar. |

| Stärkung von Digital Skills in der Lehre |
| Mehrere Schweizer Hochschulen arbeiteten zusammen an übergreifenden Projekten (P8), die von swissuniversities koordiniert wurden. Die ZHAW setzte dabei folgende Teilprojekte um: |
| • | | Im Rahmen der Digital Skills Academy wurde an der ZHAW untersucht und aufgezeigt, wie barrierefreie offene Bildungsressourcen und -plattformen für Menschen mit Behinderungen gestaltet werden können. |
| • | | Wie kann KI beim akademischen Lesen und Schreiben als Ressource genutzt werden? Im Projekt Digital Literacy im Hochschulkontext wurden dazu Themenfelder der maschinellen Übersetzung, automatischen Textevaluation und automatischen Textproduktion genauer betrachtet. |
| • | | Im Rahmen des LeLa - LernLabors Hochschuldidaktik ZHAW wurde das Tool myScripting weiterentwickelt und Anleitungen in Form eines Open-Access-Books, eines Online-Kurses (MOOC) und eines YouTube-Kanals gestaltet. Ausserdem: Wir gratulieren Claude Müller Werder und Jennifer Erlemann zu ihrer Nomination für den EAPRIL Best Practice-Based Research Award 2025! |

| Rück- und Ausblick Digital Skills Week |
Schon zwei Monate ist die Digital Skills Week her. Seitdem haben uns viele Rückmeldungen erreicht: «Die Woche war sehr anregend und auch relevant für meine Arbeitsgebiete», «Die ZHAW stellt sich den Herausforderungen der Digitalisierung», «Die Vernetzung mit Personen aus anderen Teams und Departementen fand ich sehr wertvoll»,… Du hast uns auch noch was zu sagen? Melde dich gerne.
Und es gibt Good News: Es wird eine zweite Durchführung geben, voraussichtlich wieder Anfang September. Bis dahin dürft ihr das Material der vergangenen DSW durchstöbern. Viel Spass! |

| Calls: TEF, DFF, BMFH, MOOC |
| • | | Beim TEF geht es zum einen um die Themen "Roboter und Physical AI", "Digital Skills von Studierenden", "Digital Detox", "Co-Creation als Motor für Lehren und Lernen" und "ZHAW als innovativer Lernraum". Der andere Call betrifft die Zusatzfinanzierung bestehender Projekte. |
| • | | Mit dem Digital Futures Fund for Research & Development unterstützen wir Forschungs- oder Entwicklungsprojekte mit je max. CHF 20'000. |
| • | | Mit dem 5. und letzten BMFH-Call fördern wir Projekte an der Schnittstelle zwischen der ZHAW und Berufsmaturitätsschulen. |
| • | | Ausserdem unterstützen wir zwei neue MOOC-Produktionen auf der globalen Lernplattform edX – mit Finanzierung und professioneller Begleitung. |

| Geklaute Kunst |
Leider werden nicht nur im Louvre Kunstwerke gestohlen. Um das Bewusstsein für den illegalen Handel mit Kulturgütern zu schärfen, hat die UNESCO das weltweit erste Virtuelle Museum für gestohlene Kulturgüter ins Leben gerufen. Spannende Geschichten von Kunstdiebstählen gibt es übrigens auch im Podcast „Kunstverbrechen“.
PS: Im letzten "K.I.- Kurioses Internet" ging es um herbstliche Äpfel. Eine Rückmeldung hat uns erreicht: Auf dem Campus Grüental in Wädenswil gibt es eine Apfelsortensammlung von rund 420 verschiedenen Sorten. In echt, ohne KI. Genial! |

| Digital Skills – Manifold Calls – Artificial Intelligence |
Dear reader,
In this newsletter, you can gather mushrooms, stolen artworks, and other useful information. Like mushrooms, our calls are sprouting up across the board. There's something for every taste: The Transformative Education Fund enables collaborative education projects, the Digital Futures Fund for Research and Development is looking for innovative researchers, the MOOC Call is about courses with global reach, and the BMFH Call strengthens the interface with vocational maturity schools.

| AI can be found everywhere at ZHAW – in research, education, and administration. New tools are growing like mushrooms in autumn. Some are slop, some are poisonous, and some are edible and useful. Get an overview of how AI is being implemented meaningfully at ZHAW. |

| Together with ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich, we organised the AI+X Summit. An interactive booth, exciting workshops, and discussions reflected the diversity of the ZHAW departments and brought AI projects and research to life. |

| Strengthening digital skills in teaching |
| Several Swiss universities collaborated on cross-disciplinary projects (P8) coordinated by swissuniversities. The ZHAW implemented the following sub-projects: |
| • | | As part of the Digital Skills Academy, the ZHAW investigated and demonstrated how accessible open educational resources and platforms can be designed for people with disabilities. |
| • | | How can AI be used as a resource for academic reading and writing? The Digital Literacy in University Contexts project took a closer look at topics such as machine translation, automatic text evaluation, and automatic text production. |
| • | | As part of the LeLa – LearningLab Higher Education ZHAW – the myScripting tool was further developed and instructions were created in the form of an open-access book, an online course (MOOC), and a YouTube channel. In other news, we would like to congratulate Claude Müller Werder and Jennifer Erlemann on their nomination for the EAPRIL 2025 Practice-Based Research Award! |

| Review and outlook for Digital Skills Week |
The Digital Skills Week took place two months ago and we have received a lot of feedback since then: “The week was very inspiring and also relevant to my areas of work,” “The ZHAW is facing up to the challenges of digitalization,” “I found networking with people from other teams and departments very valuable,”... Do you have something to add? Get in touch!
And there's good news: a second edition is planned for the beginning of September. Until then, you are welcome to browse through the material from the past DSW. Have fun! |

| Calls: TEF, DFF, BMFH, MOOC |
| • | | The TEF focuses on the topics of “robots and physical AI”, “digital skills of students”, “digital detox”, “co-creation as a driver for teaching and learning" and “ZHAW as an innovative learning space”. The other call concerns additional funding for existing projects. |
| • | | With the Digital Futures Fund for Research & Development, we support research or development projects with a maximum of CHF 20,000 each. |
| • | | With the fifth and final BMFH call, we are funding projects at the interface between the ZHAW and vocational baccalaureate schools. |
| • | | We are also supporting two new MOOC productions on the global learning platform edX – with financial aid and professional support. |

| Stolen Art |
Unfortunately, it's not just at the Louvre that works of art are stolen. To raise awareness of the illicit trafficking of cultural heritage artifacts UNESCO has launched the world’s first-ever Virtual Museum of Stolen Cultural Objects. Exciting stories about art thefts can be heard in the podcast “Kunstverbrechen”.
PS: The last post in this section was about autumn apples. We received some feedback: there is a collection of around 420 different apple varieties on the Grüental campus in Wädenswil. Real ones, no AI involved. How amazing! |
